Believe it or not, we really thought about this, and eventually settled on SwitchPiglet for a number of different reasons.
The “Switch” bit is hopefully pretty obvious - we wanted to make the business of switching banks and other essential services as simple for customers as possible. Adding “Piglet” was inspired by the ubiquitous piggybank and its obvious associations with saving money. Beyond that, we just really like piglets. They’re intelligent, social little animals who form strong bonds and communities, which is what we're trying to do with our membership scheme. They show empathy, which inspired our commitment to charity. They’re also ridiculously cute, so why not?
Our black and gold colour scheme is a nod to that of our parent company, Astcote House Limited. You'll see that colour scheme reflected on our emails and our partner sites, such as Stripe. We could have played it safe and gone with pink, of course, but we didn't want to risk a lawsuit from Peppa Pig.
